A three-arm placebo-controlled randomised clinical trial on the efficacy of debridement surgery, diagnostic arthroscopy as a pseudo-placebo, and non-interventional management on shoulder pain and function. Funded by Arthritis Research UK, National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Oxford Biomedical Research Centre, and the Royal College of Surgeons.   2. Using fMRI to compare drug efficacy in the treatment of neuropathic pain A three-arm, cross-over placebo-controlled trial on the modulation of pain processing, as measured using BOLD-FMRI and rsFMRI, by Pregabalin and Tramadol in patients with post-traumatic neuropathic pain. The study simulated "go/no-go" decision making in analgesic drug development. Funded by Pfizer and grants from NIHR, MRC, the Wellcome Trust, and the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013).   3. Understanding pain processing in chronic pain using neuroimaging tools.
